Can't create a developer account, getting error 'Your verification email was just returned. Mistyped email?'

more options

While signing up for the Firefox developer account I do receive the verification email from Firefox however before I receive an email the verification code field disappears and I cannot enter the verification code. I receive an error 'Your verification email was just returned. Mistyped email?' Tried with my company email account and one personal email account on Outlook.com but did not work with either.

Had a look at two other solutions for this problem but those did not work.

There a couple of reasons this may happen.

The most common happens when you have a vacation reply or automated response set up on your email. When Firefox sends the code, it immediately receives a reply from the email address, which it interprets as an error message from the email provider.

If this is what's happening, displaying any vacation replies or other automated messages should fix the issue.

The other possible issue is that your email provider is indeed sending an error message back to the Firefox accounts system, even though the email goes through. Certain providers, like Yahoo and AOL, do this quite often. This can sometimes be fixed by adding accounts@firefox.com to your contacts list so that it's treated as a trusted sender.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response Wesley. I've been trying to figure out if there are auto-responders if any. My IT team confirmed there aren't any auto-responders set which I confirmed looking at the traces on the email server.

HI gauravagashe1

For software development questions about Firefox add-ons, I'd ask in discourse instead: https://discourse.mozilla.org/c/add-ons/35
