I have 75 items in my bookmarks. But firefox is only displaying 27-32 of them. I have checked mobile, other, and every tab I could find. Nothing. Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

Is the problem still there?

If you have sync, and there is a problem anywhere, Shut Down Sync Immediately On All Devices to prevent the problem from spreading. Once the problem is fixed, perform the same repair on all computers/profiles before using sync again.

The word "items" includes both bookmarks and bookmark folders, but that would be too many folders for you not to notice them.

Do you want to try converting one of your backups to an easier-to-view HTML file? I have a tool for that on my site: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/bookbackreader.html That might help with discovering buried treasures, or if it can't understand the backup file, it could indicate a problem in the database.

To access your backup files, you can open your profile folder as described in the following article, then double-click into the bookmarkbackups folder: Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

Separators are included as well in the count that is part of the name of an automatically created compressed .jsonlz4 backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

The name of an automatically created JSON bookmarks backup in the bookmarkbackups folder includes a total item count (folders and separators included) and an hash value to prevent saving the same backup more than once. You also see this count in the Restore menu drop-down list.

  • bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item count>_<hash>.jsonlz4.

Hi, Thanks for replying. I converted it and now I have some 60 items. I still dont see 3 reddit posts that I know I bookmarked but I guess 60 will do. Thank you. Got some important ones. But they arent present on my bookmarks bar. I only see it in HTML file

Update: It appears I have it restored after reverting to an older save(1.5 month ago save). I can see 53 items but I am pretty sure I am missing a few things like 3 reddit posts.

Ill find them on the web. Maybe I corrupted something. ( I have a history with corrupting files especially registry files.) Or maybe thats all I had. I thought 75 items means only bookmarks so I guess its possible

Thanks again and sorry for being a botheration. I needed some of those bookmarks urgently. Ill work with this. Now how do I resolve this thread?

In the file, are they in the first section under Bookmarks Menu? That's the drop-down menu that appears when you either:

  • Click the Bookmarks menu on the top menu bar (or press Alt+b)
  • Click the optional Bookmarks Menu toolbar button ()
  • Open the Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+b) and expand Bookmarks Menu

You can move those to the Bookmarks Toolbar if you prefer.

On the other hand, if Firefox lists more items under Bookmarks Toolbar (or "toolbar") on the HTML page -- that section has a different left border style compared with items on the Bookmarks Menu -- than it shows on the actual bar, there could be a problem with the toolbar setup rather than your bookmarks data.
