even after I select proceed. The next time the popup appears its a bigger amount. It doesn't matter if I empty trash and select compact from the menu.

It may be that the process never ends. I have seen many occasions when third party software actually prevents compact from successfully completing. Usually in these cases folders with the name NSTMP folders start appearing in the folder pane with duplicate mail in them.

I believe I fixed the problem! I deleted ALL .msf files (after closing TB) When I opened TB it rebuilt the .msf files and I havn't seen "The messages you have deleted" etc since.When I manually compacted the folders, it showed an amount saved WAY smaller then before.
