Address bar hides web content after leaving full screen

This behavior can also be observed in Youtube, for example. After exiting the full screen, the Youtube search bar is no longer visible. It reappears when you rotate the device and sometimes also when you scroll down or zoom in and out. Unfortunately, this does not work on websites that are not scrollable. There the hidden content (mostly the header) is only visible again after rotating the device (reloading has no effect). This seems to be a similiar bug: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1303054 or this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20636580/firefox-for-android-address-bar-overlaps-content-is-there-a-solution On my Android tablet, first the Android navigation bar overlaps the website and then after a fullscreen and fullscreen exit, the address bar overlaps instead. It would be nice if these "address bar overlaps content" or "navigation bar overlaps content" bugs could be permanently fixed, especially since I have not found a way to work around the bug through javascript.

Hi

I think that what you might be seeing is this issue:

https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/25041

If so, this is something that our developers are aware of and are looking into.

I don't see how this is related to the bug I described. This doesn't just affect Youtube or videos, this affects every fullscreen use case as far as I could tell. Both on my smartphone (Android 11) and tablet (Android 12).

While the issue title mentions YouTube, I think that the underlying issue may be the same.

Looking at the issue, it appears that this has been resolved in the Nightly build of Firefox for Android and (assuming there are no problems) it should be the Release version in three months time.

I installed the latest Firefox Nighty version (105.0a1) on my Galaxy Tab S6 lite (Android 12) from Google Play Store, there the problem still occurs. At the beginning, the Android navigation bar overlaps, then after full screen and exiting full screen, the address bar overlaps instead.

Edit: I just found out that if you disable the "Scroll to hide navigation bar" option in Firefox settings, the problem goes away. This is a "fix" that now works for me, but people who want to use my web app on Android in full screen probably don't know that. I would suggest as a quick "fix" to disable this option by default until the actual bug is fixed.

The bug is not solved just because I found a workaround to avoid it. Please read my answer completely.

Thank you for your feedback. Looking at the GitHub issue that I mentioned above, this issue is due to be fixed in Firefox version 105, due to be released at the end of this month.
