I would like to install Thunderbird on two separate Win7 networked computers and use the same "Thunderbird Data" on a NAS for both. I already use the Data on the NAS for computer number 1, but trying to run Thunderbird on the second computer gives the well-known error "Thunderbird already running..."

You can only start one instance of Thunderbird per profile.

One ata time, of course. But what about either one or the other, one computer not booted, for example.

While this may work technically, it isn't recommended. By all means avoid starting different versions of Thunderbird with the same profile. The same goes for accessing the profile over the network. It may work, but is neither recommended nor officially supported.
