not trusting download, can it be deleted, or is safe if not opened?

got a message strongly suggesting there were problem spyware 'trojans' that would steal passwords, etc., clicking on removal option resulted in download of file titled "buyinfo-centreq.tk" - this site is blocked as an "attack page" so (1) can it be deleted, trashed, cyber-vaporized, etc from downloads list, and (2) as long as it's not opened is not able to attack or ?? Thanks for your help, Dave

Did you try to select that file in the Download Manager and press Delete or use the right-click context menu ?

If you downloaded the file then you should remove it from its download location.
If there is a history entry then you can use "Forget About This Site" via the right-click context menu in the sidebar or history manager (Library).
