Updated via "Check for updates" to latest version. Further check indicates program is up to date and no update available. However, "About Mozilla Firefox" shows version 3.6.13, Plain confusing. Edit: (Please note, it applies to laptop and NOT the system used to post this issue.)

If you had posted from the laptop the System information provided may have helped. You could have some long forgotten plugin or other software that is affecting the laptop, or it could be malware.

Have a look at How to reset the default user agent on Firefox and the information about checking and resetting the user agent string.

I will check the link you provided and reset "Three preferences" noted.

As the laptop is not here with me, the following applies:

Win XP pro SP3

FF extentions; ONLY flashgot, flashblock and adblock FF plugins; shockwaveFlash, Foxit (pdf) reader, standard Java plugins, and FF default plugin. All up to date.
