I use IE7 as well as Firefox and Google Chrome , as some sites work better with different browsers , i mainly use Firefox for Forums , i sometimes am on IE7 and save a Favorite , how can i add/import , just recently added Bookmarks/Favorites from another browser (like IE7) and not double up all the imported bookmarks i already have from there

Can i use Import Bookmarks from another Browser and it will only import NEW Bookmarks and not double up on the ones i already have ?? , or is this not possible , i dont want to try it and screw up my Bookmarks until i know if it will work or not !!...Thanks...Jim..

Thank You , that helped with some but not all , it only brought over the Bookmarks that were IN Folders , all the ones in the main Favorites Menu that were not in a separate folder did not transfer (ones that i had added recently) . My only option would be to go to each site and then save to my Bookmarks in Firefox , and that would be a pain , it did transfer some , i tried transferring 3 times , and it did not bring all the main Favorites Menu

Any Help would be appreciated , at least the "Check Places" did help some , thanks ....Jim..

If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

OK i tried this , and it does not show all my Favorites ,in the Favorites folder (it say show "HTML Files" in the "Files of Type" box) , but it only shows about 5 of the 30+ that should be there , so that didn't work either , for some reason it is not showing/transferring all My Favorites in the Main Favorites folder , it transferred all my folders i had , but not the main favorites that were not categorized in folders ( i did not want them in folders)

This is frustrating , you would have thought it would be a simple process to transfer everything as it was completely and then update as needed , it tries , but for some reason will not recognize the newer ones that were added after the original transfer , even with that "Check Places" add-on , it did not get them

Any idea's ??
