Quicktime is not loading into Firefox 9 ( as well as when running Waterfox)

Quicktime v.7.7.1

It doesn't show up in the Plug-ins tab? How can I manually install this?

It is downloaded. Firefox doesn't recognize it, so it is not showing up in the plug-in tab. QT is working fine in Chrome.

So, QT is on my computer, and I need to enable FF to read it and enable it.

Hi Ideato,

Thanks for the replies. I had already looked though those links.

Resetting the QT brings up several issues. I don't have a "plugin folder". However, The .dll that were mentioned were found in the QuickTime plugins folder. I did try creating a plugins folder in FF, and copying and renaming the QT .dll but that doesn't seem to do anything?

In the components folder there is a QT xpt file? Not sure where that fits in?

Should I have a plugins folder? In FF, Shockwave Flash, and MS Office are the only plug-ins that show up. I know I used to have more in there. I just tried a clean install, which didn't do anything. Do I need to do a full re-install? I have had js problems, too, and I am thinking this must also be part of that problem?

Thanks again, hope you have some more ideas.

Plugins not located in the browser plugins folder (e.g., for Firefox, in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins) can be found by setting plugin.expose_full_path to true in about:config and then checking the file path in about:plugins, but you have not a plugin folder.

If you allready do a clean install and you have not good results, i think you must try a Reinstall after completely removing Firefox (full re-install)

wait a little for other solutions of members of the forum

thanks again

If you do not see the QuickTime in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins then you won't see it either on the about:plugins page. The about:plugins page only shows plugins that are listed as enabled in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins.

It is quite possible that Chrome is using its own plugins because it comes with a lot of plugins that support all kind of media files. Firefox is a 32 bit application and thus needs 32 bit versions of plugins. On Windows plugins are usually found via a registry scan, so if Firefox doesn't find a plugin then that can be caused by missing registry keys.

Thanks cor-el. Interesting link, though a bit over my head. The plug-ins I have (java, flash, and office) are all located in their own respective folders, just like where the QT .dlls are found.

I'm running W7 64 bit, so perhaps that is were the problems lie. I just installed Waterfox, so maybe I can get somewhere with that? Also tried QT Alternative but it is also not being recognized?

If it is a missing registry key, should I try inserting one? If that's even possible?
