Can noy get the start up address to http://www.google.com/, it always goes to the secured address of https://www.google.com/. will not let me change it?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Are you logged on to a Google service when that happens?
