Hi, I have not been able to know how big or what are the limits in Firefox Sync data, I linked my other computers and some bookmarks where synced bu others not and I assumed it was probably a limit in data size, it says it is 11.4 Mb and would like to know how much the limit is, just that.

Ok, I thought Sync was not working, I linked 4 computers to this one and after a while I did see my bookmarks where sync but I constantly add more bookmarks and this changes are not reflected in the other computers, I was a Xmarks user but lately was having a lot of trouble so I discovered Firefox had the sync option and it is what I am using now but I really do not know if I have to do9 something else to sync my main bookmarks to the other computers, all are running the same Firefox version.

Am I missing something,

Regards,

You can check the Sync servers' status here. If there are no online issues, you can then Sync Now once or more on all the PCs via Firefox Tools (Alt + T), wait for a few minutes and check the bookmarks (Ctrl + Shift + B). You can also right-click the Bookmarks Menu tree on the left and Sort by Name, and also check inside Unsorted Bookmarks. Eventually within a few hours the unsorted items also will be usually sorted and placed in the correct hierarchy. Please note that the sync and the sorting may take some time depending on the amount of data to be transferred, and also on the continuous addition and deletion of history/bookmarks etc. While on the bookmarks library, you can also search on the top right Search box for the missing bookmarks and they will be usually present if the Sync was successful.

  1. Why does it take hours to move sync'd items from Unsorted Bookmarks into the correct bookmark folder hierarchy?
  2. usually sorted ?? Is this not a deterministic process?
  3. How can you tell if sync is working on the sort - there does not seem to be any indicator?

These also relate to my recent support forum post Why does sync introduce about 6000 entries into my Unsorted Bookmarks folder? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/942586

I'm not aware of the internals. There could be an issue of scaling up. Please see this similar issue. Actually it seems the devs need more raw data/logs to definitely determine the issue in this case. You could file a new bug as this is not directly related though nevertheless could be the same reasons.

Hello dumdidadida:

Thanks for the reference to Bug 769476 - bookmarks reordered on desktop after syncing with android . The bug symptoms and discussion certainly describe my situation at the download end. I have a large number of bookmarks between 2 windows PCs on a reliable wireless network, however no Android involved and no re-ordering on the source end. That makes me think there is a complexity threshold (i.e. scaling as you suggest) for the basic algorithm.

I suggest FF test with 15,000 bookmarks distributed through a large nested folder system at least 3 deep if they have not done so already.
