I recently tried to set up Thunderbird to receive emails on my smart phone while on vacation. The phone was new, and I ran into all kinds of problems with it, including messing up most of my passwords. When I got home; I'm getting a sign in error on my email account, along with other problems. How can I reset to a new password so I ran open the emails that have stacked up?

I can find no difference of settings between five accounts that Get Messages just fine and several accounts that STOPPED DOING SO -- getting no emails even when I click on dropdown for individual account

I have an icloud email address in Thunderbird on my windows laptop. I changed my apple id password and the icloud email has stopped working on my laptop. It asks for a password and does not accept my new password.

So I have two exchange accounts. Both were working until a recent Thunderbird update. Now they both will receive email, but only one will send. The offending account will spine for a bit on send and error out with the change password or retry. Both do not work. I have tried everything from recreating the account to creating a new SMTP account. I am at a loss at this point. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am using,

Thunderbird 128.4.1esr (64-bit) Avast as in the pic. Also the SMTP setting in the pic. These are the same as the account that is work bar the credential change. This on Windows 11.

For the past 3 days, I've been locked out of using Thunderbird email. When I try to open it, I get a "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Thunderbird. Do you want to restart now ?" "Yes/No" option pop-up.

This is infuriating. After several hours, I'm still no closer to being able to use Thunderbird again.

If I choose to restart, nothing changes and I just get the doom loop pop-up again.

If I install uninstall (via Windows Control Panel), again I get stuck with the "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Thunderbird. Do you want to restart now ?" message.

I can find no useful advice in the Thunderbird help and forums. It's recorded as a known issue. But no viable solutions found.

Using Windows 10. Looks like Thunderbird tried to update to 115.16.2 on 28-Oct-24 (not something I requested).

Please let me know how I can fix it.

And do something to fix this bug (which is a shocker).

Somewhat of a green small fish here.

Apologies if this has been asked and answered many times before.

Currently: wanting to transfer several existing Thunderbird profiles from Old Vista laptop to newer Windows 7 laptop that already has an existing Thunderbird setup with 3 existing profiles.

Export is taking a long time on he old Vista laptop.

Q? Can I copy existing profiles (folders) from old Vista laptop and paste them into the existing profiles folder on the newer Windows 7 laptop?

In summary...

Existing profiles on both old (source) laptop and new (destination) laptop.

Export from old laptop taking too long/Thunderbird hanging.

Q? Copy folders/profiles from old and paste folders/profiles into new?

A few weeks ago after an automatic update I ended up having Thunderbird version 131.0.1 installed, I have no idea how this happened. On opening I get a message telling me I shouldn't be using a beta version and that I should revert to the latest general release version (128.4)

Today when I had some free time I downloaded 128.4 and installed it. On opening it it says that I can't use a profile file from a later version with the earlier version. Is there a way to recover from this WITHOUT having to set up the whole profile again from scratch.

Meanwhile I have done a system restore so I am back with 131.0.1 It has not given me any problems so far. Is there a new general release version imminent that will get me back on track?

I would appreciate any help I am not a computer expert, just a user, and find Thunderbird a very good email client.

I often wake up my machine and immediately click "get messages" to see what's new. Often when I do this my request is blocked because the trash or some other folder is being compacted. This is annoying.

Why must tbird choose to compact just when I am trying to do something? Couldn't it do compaction and other such housekeeping in the background, when it would otherwise be idle?

With the latest update to version 128.3.3 in October 2024, I have lost the local folders to one email account and the address books to both email accounts. Any advice in how to retrieve them?

I'm using 115.16.0esr (64-bit) for Linux. I received an email message. I have the protection for not download images (I don't know if this is relevant, but the issue only happened after I select download images, as I didn't try before). Now, when I select the message, I can't scroll down and see the bottom of it. Neither with the mouse scroll wheel, not using arrow or page down keys.

I tried opening the message in another tab, and did not work. I can only read the whole message when I click to reply, in the new message.

Дробового времени суток. После смены пароля, пропали сообщения входящие, отправленные, удаленные. При это всем если использовать поиск глобальный (на нескольких почтах), то сообщения показывает. Каким образом вернуть обратно сообщения. Делал переустановку (с выгрузкой профилей), починку папок.

After the last update my settings have been a mess. Not sure what all the settings where because haven't need to change anything in years. It has been perfect. Now it is not letting me click a link for to a website. I have tried to fix in settings but sure just not picking the right option. Been at this for over 2 hours. Just can't find the right settings. Thank you

I am setting up a new computer, and have installed thunderbird. When I try to use the Troubleshooting Information "Profile Folder" option, it tells me the location is not available.

How do I get to that location so I can paste abook.sqlite and history.sqlite in and be on my way?

My entire experience with TB has changed and I don't know if it's something I did or if TB changed its format. I just want my old start screen back to the way it was before. Now, I send an email with photos included IN THE EMAIL and when I look at Sent email it looks nothing like what I sent and the photos are at the bottom of the screen as attachments. If these changes are on TB's end, I'm definitely not happy with them. Is there a way to get the previous format back?

An e-mail body displayed does not match subject header. This is rare, 1-2x per month and for a single e-mail. The subject line above and below (even though rest of header matches body) is for a deleted e-mail. I've seen this most often with e-mails left in Inbox for several days. Windows 11 & TB 115.4.2 (but has existed in earlier versions as well)

I have a calendar reminder from last week (I was away from the computer). Now, it keeps popping up. If I click dismiss or dismiss all, nothing happens.

I am running 128.4.0.

Two queries:- I have a strange black square that appears when replying to emails. It can be moved with the cursor but won't disappear. I have the option set which displays the number of messages and the disc space they occupy in various folder. In the Deleted folder, when I empty it, either using 'Empty Deleted' or manually be selecting all the messages and using the delete key, The number of messages drops to zero but the disc space is still occupied. This is in contrast to the junk folder where the operation works as expected. Help, please!
