I open a new tab but the boxes have gone and comes with 'The address isn't valid'
I open up a new tab and it used to show up my recent history in about 12 boxes but now I get this:
'The address isn't valid
The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.

Here is a screen shot.
Hey xclairebell
A Screenshot YAY I love them ^^
Lets get to work. I would first restore your homepage to default just to be sure. I would do this by: "options>general>restore to default" Then restart firefox and try again
If that doesnt work then a reinstall of firefox may be needed which can be done here https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/#firefox
Hope this helped Brad
I have no option like that under general, can't find it any where :/
Never mind found it but it hasn't made a difference
Hello again
I would then try to refresh firefox
The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.
To Refresh Firefox:
- Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
- Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
- If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
- At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
- Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
- Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!
Thanks Brad
That just made things worse and now Google doesn't work

I have sorted it.
Bookmark and use this; Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
Settings Guard for Firefox {web link} Detects and resets changes to settings that are frequently done by add-ons and application installers.

You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page and set that pref to your preferred new tab page.
- the default new tab page with the tiles is about:newtab
- the default home page is about:home
- for a blank page you can use about:blank
The browser.newtabpage.enabled pref should be set to true to use the page set via browser.newtab.url as the new tab page.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
I got about:blankto produce a new blank page, but the other two settings had no effect. Also, when \i click on Reply in our e-mail I ge t a new tab with virus warning
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

It happened today on 7/6 after 6pm Pacific Daylight time. I opened a new tab and instead of a blank page it is a yahoo search page, but doesn't look like an true yahoo page. I opened another tab and it says in huge letters The address isn't valid. It looks like some one is hacking my browser. I do not want to delete and reload that doesn't solve the problem. Mozilla is open source browser and my favorite browser. I downloaded Panda Free Antivirus and I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Thanks for your help
Most anti-virus can't detect mal-ware.
Check the programs that are on your computer
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
- Download the Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
- Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
