I would like to put Firefox on my Note 4, but not interested in giving access to my contact, camera or location. Why can't you guys be different than all other
I like your pc product and think I maybe have used for 5 to 10 year and have no reason to try anybody else.
However I get the feeling that if I put firefox on my Android Note 4, you're app will be like all the others...clawing to get all my personal info, as access to contact, my camera on and off and location?
What's up wtih that?
You don't do that on my pc.
I don't use hardly any apps, primarrily because my info is nobody's business, and tired of being over marketed to.

This is a cop out answer and doesn't solve anything.
I will continue to NOT put Firefox on to my cell phones.

Please be nice to the folks here. Most are volunteers and James is a one of volunteers (thanks James!).
Due to the nature of the Android operating system if your web browser or other app *could* use a permission like camera or geo location in the future, you have to approve those permissions twice:
- when installing the app AND
- then on any website that uses those permissions, Firefox asks for your permission for that individual websites.
I wish Android was different and you could approve (or deny) those permissions the first time they are used on an individual website (i.e. #2 only) but there's nothing we can do about this.
I've heard that if you root your Android phone (which I don't recommend unless you are technical) that you can control the permissions in the way you want (i.e. through some unsupported third party app, automatically deny and or eliminate the permission request when installing apps).

Firefox uses these permissions to provide websites with the possibility of accessing these native controls. For example if you go to google maps or yelp the website will request your location. The approval of this request is in your hands and the default is not to provide this information.
Similar websites can make use of the camera and microphone. Once again with a default of not to share. For example Firefox Hello.
Firefox does not request access or the ability to modify your personal contacts. There is a permission to add and modify the local device accounts. This permission is required to provide Firefox Sync.
