I just installed Thunderbird and though I love using it to keep my various emails together in one place to mass check/maintain, I am really missing having a checkbox before individual messages to mark them for deletion, move to folder, mark as read, or mark as spam, etc. I am aware that I can do this by utilizing the Ctrl key or the Shift key shortcuts on my keyboard, but every other mail client I have used has had checkboxes and it is a handy thing to be able to do this instead of using the keyboard shortcuts so it seems an odd thing to leave out of Thunderbird. Can you please consider adding it in a future update?

My guess is every other mail client used a browser. The introduction of those check boxes was because browsers have to reload the list all the time and need a way to remember. The operating system does not have that limitation, so native application do not use this android/iphone web browser metaphor.'
