Hello everyone. I just upgraded to Windows 10 today, August 10 2015 and ever since I cannot get Firefox to startup at all. I have reinstalled Firefox versions 39.0.3 and the beta 40.0b9 and they both crash as if they were the same version. I have tried rebooting the system as well with absolutely no change in behavior. It will not start in safe mode nor will it give me an error code or allow me to submit a crash report. I know the problem has to do with the upgrade to Windows 10 as there were no previous problems in Windows 7. The problem is I have no idea what direction to go to fix this without trying to revert back to Windows 7. Anyone have any ideas?

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. On the keyboard, press [Windows] The image "Windows key" does not exist. + [R]. This should bring up a Run window that contains a text field.
  2. In that text field, type %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
  3. From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
  4. Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
  5. Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
  6. Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.

Thanks in advance!

I have not been able to submit a crash report because Firefox crashes about 2 to 5 seconds after it starts. The last crash report I submitted was in March 2015. Here are my last 5 crash reports:

March 23 - Crash ID: bp-5135ee28-a5c6-41f0-8e7b-77f222150323 March 18 - Crash ID: bp-f047eb65-0d80-40d0-a7d8-c3fec2150318 March 17 - Crash ID: bp-f689ed05-1db9-4d2e-9250-ecaa82150318 March 16 - Crash ID: bp-a5402159-61cc-46a6-bcfa-9c7302150316 March 14 - Crash ID: bp-a68f6ed6-f8b7-49bb-954d-f6ddb2150314

Please let me know if these helped at all.

Now it's working. Go figure. I did not do anything to fix this. It's just working now inexplicably.
