I uninstalled a previous version of FF and now I cannot log into 1 of my 4 banks using FF browser. I can in other browsers still.

It is Ally Bank. When I log in a it takes me to a 2nd page to log in AGAIN. This is not and never has been the case in FF nor any other browser. It just started happening in FF ONLY since I uninstalled FF (due to another problem) and reinstalled it. It automatically installed a new version that came out on Oct. 9th 2017 - 56.0.2 (64-bit). When I log in on the 2nd page I get an error message from the bank server in red that reads "There was an internal server error thrown". Again, all is well in Chrome and IE with this bank. What's the deal? So now I have to use Chrome for Ally Bank and for my NetZero and Juno email accts (they act up in FF too)

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.

  • make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
