Hi, do you mean on the new tab page that appears when you click the "+" button or press Ctrl+t?
Do you have the new Activity Stream design that has multiple sections (Top Sites, Highlights, etc.)?
You may need to switch back to the old design if your pinned tabs are not showing up there. Here's how:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste newt and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false
Does that make any difference?
If you meant on your home page, were you using a "Speed Dial" extension to create that page? To see if it is disabled, please check the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return
In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then scan down the list on the right to the bottom where you can find disabled extensions. Any speed dials? Can you update/enable it?
If you meant tabs you pinned on the tab bar, and they usually are restored automatically at startup, could I ask you to back up your recent session history files? Here's how:
If Firefox is still up, check the History menu for "Restore Previous Session" and, if it's not grayed out, try that. Otherwise...
Firefox creates numerous session history files, but because session history is only for the immediately previous session, it is unfortunately too easy to lose it. Could you start by making a backup of your existing session history files? Here's how:
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Open Folder" (or "Show in Finder") button.
In your profile folder, scroll down and double-click into the sessionstore-backups folder. Save all files here to a safe location (e.g., Documents folder).
The kinds of files you may find among your sessionstore files are:
- recovery.jsonlz4: the windows and tabs in your currently live Firefox session (or, if Firefox crashed at the last shutdown and is still closed, your last session)
- recovery.bak: a backup copy of recovery.js
- previous.jsonlz4: the windows and tabs in your last Firefox session
- upgrade.jsonlz4-build_id: the windows and tabs in the Firefox session that was live at the time of your last update
- older files with a .js extension from Firefox 55 or earlier
Could you take a look at the most recent upgrade.jsonlz4 file and preview its contents by dragging and dropping it onto this page, then clicking Scrounge URLs: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/scrounger.html
(That tool is on my site, so please let me know if it doesn't work for you.)
Does that have your missing tabs?
its all the pinned tabs i had so when id open a new tab it would show all my fav sites links, they was there like 2 hours ago and are not now and i havent added anything shut anything down changed anything or closed firefox until i noticed them gone then i tried that
