Custom name in contatcs list
It would be good if I could make the name that shows in the contact list for a contact be different from the "human name" used as a prefix to the email address. For example, I may have two email addresses for John Smith. I would like to have in the contact list "John Smith [home]" and "John Smith [work"] But if I select the fore,er for a new message., I don't want the email address to be:
"John Smith [home] <john.smith@service.com"

but rather:
"John Smith <john.smith@service.com"

For many years I enjoyed this capability in Eudora.

You could enter the 2nd address as Additional Email in the contact Properties, or if they are separate contacts, use another field such as Nickname to store 'home' or 'work'.
Hi,
Yes that had been suggested before, but I can't get my contacts lists to have a "nickname" field.
Thanks.
Doug
Are your 'lists' mailing lists or address books? The Nickname field is in the contact Properties (see picture).
The "contact list" I am speaking of is fact the address book panel in the Write app. Sorry for the confusion.
Yes, I see where the Nickname field is in the Contact Properties dialog.
But I cannot arrange my contact list panel in the Write app to include the nickname field.
Doug
If you enter work in the Nickname field for contacts, and then type work in the To: box, address autocomplete will display contacts with that Nickname, which might show too many contacts, unless the Nickname is more specific to the contact, such as workJohnS.
Sure.
I would just hope that a direct solution to this (such as I enjoyed in Eudora) might be added in future.
Thanks for your help.
