I am running macOS 10.15.7 and Firefox won't upgrade past ESR v. 115 to the "regular" version 127.

Alternately, downloading the Firefox v. 127 installer and running won't update ESR v. 115 nor will it import bookmarks or data from the previous version ESR 115. Firefox v. 127 installs and starts as if I am a new user without any update or import option so that all previous settings, passwords, and data from ESR v. 115 are lost.

Is there a work-around for the upgrade to keep continuity, settings, bookmarks, and data when migrating to v. 127? Thanks!

Yes, this is normal. If you want to migrate your Firefox 115 ESR profile -- you are completely done with Firefox 115 ESR and don't intend to use its profile in an older version ever again -- then try this:

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. (Each profile has two folders and one or more buttons. Do not use any Remove buttons!)

The profile that Firefox 127 is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

For each of the other profiles on the page, you can check whether it is your Firefox 115 profile by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If the one you clicked isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox 127 uses it automatically at the next startup.

Success?

If you want to keep your options open as to whether you go back to Firefox 115, then Sync would be the best way to share data between the two profiles. But I suggest making a backup first in case Sync goes in the wrong direction.

The next major ESR Release will be based on Firefox 128.0 to be Released on July 9. The then older 115.0 ESR users will not update to 128 ESR until 128.3.0esr (Oct 1st) as the 115.15.0esr out at same time as 128.2.0esr will be the last.

Though macOS 10.12, 10.13, 10.14 users will not get any Firefox updates to any version past Fx 115.0 as Fx 116.0 and later requires macOS 10.15 or later.
