Is it possible to merge the navigation bar with the top bar like you can with the tab bar?

When you have the window maximized in FF4 and you have the 'tabs on top' option checked, you get something like this:

See how the tab bar is flush with the menu button and the minimize/maximize/close buttons? Here's how it looks when you have the 'tabs on top' option unchecked:

No more flushness. I was wondering if there was any way to fix that, where the navigation bar gets fit onto the top bar.

In Firefox 4 the tab bar is a regular toolbar and you can place other items on it (left and right).

You can open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" and drag each item from the Navigation Toolbar to the tab bar.

That's true, but I'm one of those guys who likes having the tab bar on the bottom. I could move everything from the navigation bar to the tab bar, but that'd be one super cramped tab bar. Instead, I'd like the navigation bar on top - merged with the upper window bar - and the tab bar below it so it's just those two bars.

I have the same problem. However, I want either the bookmark toolbar or the tab toolbar to go on the top bar. I haven't decided if I like the tabs on the top yet or not.

I'm one of the users that prefer having the toolbar layout as simple as possible, so I also have only 2 bars (the navigation bar enabled and the tabs being on the top bar).

Even though I don't mind having the tabs on top, I'd still prefer having the navigation bar up there and the tabs bar under it. The top bar isnt at its full length because of the menu/minimize/maximize buttons so it would feel better for me to fit the navigation bar over there and have a full size bar for the tabs below. I'm sure others would prefer this type of customization as well, and I hope Mozilla programmers would make this tweak available for us in the upcoming software updates.

I just found an add-on that made this possible for me, I think its what we've all been looking for:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/personal-titlebar/

everything you put on the menu toolbar goes up to the title bar

I hope this helps.

I use an extension called Total Toolbar to merge the tab bar and the navigation bar... Then, after merging them I have them all tossed onto the menu bar area next to the Firefox icon / menu. The end result is that all my main functions are on a single bar. See the attached picture for a exact picture.

The only option I have checked under Firefox > Options is Tabs on Top.

I could specify that it has an icon for bookmarks up there as well, but I don't usually use them.
