Firefox 5 on Mac is crashing continuously. https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/0a581207-6b96-4c14-bc4f-5e3eb2110630 . Am not technical. Can anyone help?
I have turned off all my add-ons.
I tested Flash on the Adobe site, and it says that it was successfully installed. (Latest version)
I have tried updating absolutely everything in my computer.
I have tried turning my Mac on & off. I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8.
I tried running Firefox in Safe Mode - but it stopped seeing CSS and Javascript, so was non-functional for surfing.
I had this same problem with Firefox 4 last year. Reverted back to Firefox 3.5, thinking that eventually the community would figure out this problem. Just installed Firefox 5. Now when I remove it, and revert back to 3.5, the crashing problem continues on that old version now too!
If I can't figure it out, will have to switch browsers - although I LOVE firefox.
Please give VERY simple instructions if you want to help me. I won't understand any techie talk.
Thanks.

That crash is caused by the Flash plugin.
Be aware that your More system details list shows two Flash plugins:
- Shockwave Flash 8.0 r27
- Shockwave Flash 10.3 r181
You need at least remove the older Flash 8 version.
Thanks for your suggestion.
I followed your link and was able to get a list of installed plug-ins.(see image below) But couldn't follow how to how to delete Flash 8.
So I downloaded Adobe Flash uninstaller for the purposes of getting rid of Flash 8 and ran it several times. It got rid of Flash 10.3, but not Flash 8.
I tested on the Adobe Flash site, and it says that Flash 8 is successfully installed. So as far as I can tell it should be working.....unless the uninstaller took away some mysterious crucial part of the program.
I've tried to use finder to locate "Flash 8" - but can't find it using that name. In the "Internet plug-ins" folder I have something called "Flash Player.plugin.old" 4.5 mg. Is this the Flash 8 plug-in? Can I just delete it?
I also have Adobe CS 3 Flash installed. Don't want to mess that up in case it's related.
I am still crashing even though I only have one Flash program now.
This is my latest crash report: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/555a1f5f-21e6-4419-850f-46ca92110701
Thanks in advance!

You can see the installed plugins on the about:plugins page.
You can set the pref plugin.expose_full_path to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
You can open about:plugins and about:config via the location bar, like you open a website (about: is a special protocol to access some build-in pages).
If you get a warning when opening the about:config page then you can confirm that you want to continue.

Hi Cor-el: Was able to follow your instructions, and Firefox appears to have stopped crashing!
It seems that "Flash Player.plugin.old" was really Flash 8, and all I had to do is throw it in the trash, and download the replacement Flash 10. Haven't crashed in at least 10 minutes, and it even worked on YouTube, so think is OK.
Thanks very much for your kind help!
You're welcome
