I cannot get my browser to fully update from 3.6 to 7.0; no matter what I do, I get an odd mix of the two browsers' features.

I have tried at least half a dozen times to upgrade my old 3.6 Firefox to 7.0 to no avail. The "About" window says 7.0, but my browser has the same old interface with no tabs and old Menu bar. Also, many sites, like Facebook, remain incompatible with this hybrid "upgrade". I've tried deleting Firefox from my computer before installing the new version - same result. I've tried earlier versions, like 5.0 - same result. I've tried installing the new version into a renamed directory - same result. I have Windows XP, if that matters. I'm out of ideas and need help... or a different browser.

Firefox 4+ versions on WinXP don't automatically hide the Menu bar as is done with Vista and Win7. Right-click the Menu Bar and de-select Menu Bar.

If I de-select the menu bar I won't have anything on top save the old Firefox header. I have no tabs, no orange Firefox logo on top, no forward and back arrows or reload icon or search bar. Nothing. As I said, I can't seem to get a clean, whole version of 7.0. What I have is a near-useless mix of both the old and new programs that is missing many features and that many sites, including Facebook, are rejecting as incompatible.

I've done this already - multiple times, as I said in my earlier posts. It doesn't work. I keep getting the same corrupted result.
