Can't extract Jemeter from Java

more options

JMeter is a Java file, supposedly built in java. I've installed Java 8 update 60 using Firefox (tried with Chrome and MS Edge, and was advised that installation with other than Firefox isn't supported!).

When clicked on Java /bin file, there is NO ".bat" file found in it (bunch of ".dll" extensions)!

Same goes with Selenium IDE. If tried independently (one at a time) to install the application from their respective site, I can't "Install" the program, as there is no ".exe" file that would allow to install.

Every time I click on the downloaded application, I get an option to "save" the file, instead of "installation".. I tried everything, I'm very frustrated. Can anyone please help me?

This JMeter: http://jmeter.apache.org/ ?

I'm not sure where you are looking for the .bat file, but it should be wherever you unzipped JMeter, and not in the Java installation.

http://jmeter.apache.org/usermanual/get-started.html#install

If you have not turned off Windows' selective hiding of some file extensions, you may not be able to see .bat. See this article for how to show all file extensions (at least, for earlier versions of Windows): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions

If you do not have a program to unpack ZIP archives, you can use this one: http://www.7-zip.org/

Thanks for your reply, but I don't want to disappoint you jscher2000, but there isn't a .bat file in the bin folder of the downloaded JMeter: And FYI, I've had checked the extension issue in Windows settings prior to my post, and yes, both .bat and .JAR file boxes are checked

I don't know what that means. Does Windows 10 not have a global setting for which file extensions to display, you now have to select individual file extensions to show and hide??

I think you will need to check with the JMeter people on what to try next. We're primarily here to support Mozilla software.
