MP4 clips from Google Photos won't play in FF54 and W10 1703 64 bit. The downloading circle just keeps going round.

These are small clips from home videos (max 30 secs) uploaded to google Photos in .mov which used to work fine in FF52. Since then both FF and Windows have updated. I discovered that FF54 won't support ,mov, which means all my historic clips now won't play - thanks a bunch Mozilla. So I deleted a test clip, converted it to MP4, uploaded it again and it still won't play. It plays fine on my PC (with VLC) and in IE from Google Photos but not in FF54. I tried it in safe mode - just the same.

So what am I supposed to do now - other than desert FF??

Do you see any error messages about playing media files in the Web Console?

Firefox probably was using either the QuickTime plugin or the VLC plugin to play the .mov clips. Not everyone had one of those, and most users are not going to switch to the Extended Support Release to use VLC, I agree it's best to migrate to another format.

Can you give a link to a non-playing video for volunteers to test?
