My wife closed the browser before I could see the screen. She said it was a red screen with a warning of a serious error on Firefox. Although I can't provide a screenshot, I do have the phone number the screen said to call: 866 528 4683. According to Whitepages.com, that number was associated with a phony Microsoft security scam in April.

No response is needed. I just wanted to let folks know.

Your wife did the right thing.

. Whenever you get a message / popup like that;

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS OR ANY PHONE NUMBERS ! !

Such messages are only Spam that could lead you to Fake Support. Not only can they damage or hack your system, they charge you to do so.

You can report such a site at; Google Report Phishing Page {web link} which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery

Help us safeguard Mozilla’s trademarks by reporting misuse {web link}

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad / pop-up blocker.
