How can I eleminated multiple trash and sent folders in Thunderbird 52.9.1?
I have three trash folders in thunderbird on Linux for one outlook email. There is trash with a trash icon, where most everything goes, deleted items, a regular folder icon with a few emails all from the same day, and several emails titled "Retrieval using the IMAP4 protocol failed for the following message: 1123", and trash, also with a trash icon under local folders which has nothing. Then there are two sent folders. One has a post stamp icon and has most messages, the other has a regular folder icon and seems to have emails I sent from the outlook website. I would like to merge all of these.

Open Tools/Account Settings and look at Server Settings and Copies & Folders to see where your deleted and sent messages are stored, then right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, and unsubscribe to the folders that are not used or you don't wish to download.
If you are accessing the account through webmail, make the folder assignments in TB consistent with the ones specified in webmail.
I would rather have them merged, not unsubscribed, in case I need to look in them for some reason.
Consider using unified folders, filters or saved searches to merge folders from different accounts.

No it is two. Local folders is an account and can not be removed.
