When I reopen a closed tab, sometimes it would just load the previous page rather than the last opened page. For example, if I was on the Guardian homepage and I clicked on an article, closed the tab, then reopened with Cmd+Shift+T, occasionally it would load the Guardian homepage instead. I can get back to the article by going back a page (Cmd + left arrow), which is kinda weird.

It wasn't the only website that had the problem and clearing cache didn't seem to resolve the issue, but it did stop after I tried using Safe Mode so maybe one of my add-ons are causing the problem. Gonna go through each of my extensions to determine which one's causing it now, but thanks for the help y'all!

Is that the only site where it happens? It's possible that there's a script in the page which does that, but it might be difficult to investigate.

This might also be a problem with the disk cache.

You can try to "Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear
