Cannot access links from Outlook

I recently uninstalled and then reinstalled Firefox. Now when I receive email in Outlook 2010 from my Gmail account that I access in Firefox, I can no longer click hyperlinks to access them from email messages. The error message is "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I edited my Registry per Outlook's help, but this problem continues. It's your fault, and so, I want a solution from you. There's a question on your help site, called "I can no longer open links from within outlook email." When I click it, the page is not found. Please help.

Old versions of Office were a bit stupid when it comes to finding your default browser when the old one was removed. Most likely, Office is still looking here where your Firefox used to be -- as a legacy of its 32-bit roots:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\

instead of the current folder here for 64-bit programs:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\

There is a registry fix for this on the Outlook/Exchange site here --

https://www.slipstick.com/problems/this-operation-has-been-cancelled-due-to-restrictions/

-- but if you want to try an experiment first, I wonder whether you could fool Office 2010 as follows:

(A) In Windows settings, temporarily change your default browser to IE

(B) In C:\Program Files\, right-click > Copy the Mozilla Firefox folder

(C) In C:\Program Files (x86)\, right-click a blank area and Paste the Mozilla Firefox folder

(D) In Outlook, try a link to confirm that it is comfortable with the change to IE

(E) Delete the folder you pasted in Step (C) (make sure it's not the real folder from Step (B))

(F) In Windows settings, change your default browser back to Firefox

(G) In Outlook, try a link to confirm that it is comfortable with the change to Firefox (in its new location)

Or the registry fix.
