Firefox 4.0 appears to be a downgrade, since half of my extensions no longer work, update notifier, AVG safe search, web mail notifier, etc. How can I have these work with Firefox 4.0???

Many extensions that worked with Firefox 3.6 do not work with Firefox 4.0, so I have uninstalled Firefox 4.0 and gone back to Firefox 3.6 which works just fine, Firefox 4.0 appears to be a DOWNGRADE, not an upgrade. Extensions that do not work with Firefox 4.0 are: AVG Safe Search, Update Notifier, Web Mail Notifier, etc. My operating system is Windows Vista & I use Firefox 3.6 as my default browser.

The best bet would be to contact the add-on developers and let them know you'd like to use their extensions on the new version.

You can use Add-on Compatibility Reporter to do this.
