I have a basic optical wheel mouse, Tab Mix Plus, Microsoft Mouse software and FF-4. Previously I was able to close an open viewed tab by clicking the center wheel anywhere within the page. This function no longer operates. With Tab Mix Plus I can wheel click on the actual tab (off the page) to close it but this is much less convenient, especially with many open tabs.

Does pressing that wheel work otherwise like opening a link in a new tab or starting auto scroll?

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General: Browsing: "Use autoscrolling"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
