I cannot get rid of search1. I do not want it . it is useless and invasive. I tried uninstalling it and big deal it is there when i restart. I loved using firefox but this searchq it ridiculous. i uninstalled bandoo and it still will not let me keep the homepage i select. I am running windows 7 on a toshiba laptop.

You might have a Firefox add-on that was not successfully removed. Have you checked here?

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Add-ons

On the left, click Extensions. If there is a Remove button, try that. If there is only a Disable button, do that, but look to remove it in the Windows Control Panel.

After restarting Firefox and resetting your home page, hopefully that will stick.

@chrispi2, Searchqu is simply a setting on your internet browser that anyone at any time can easily change with just a few clicks..

1.Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > look for windows searchqu toolbar > Uninstall

2.In order to change Searchqu as your homepafe manually please check: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page
