solved: i'm with computers for almost my whole life and i still underestimate how powerful a reboot can be. it's a shame. ;)

hi there. this morning i updated aurora to version 9.0a2, firefox is on its latest version, too. before i updated aurora i could open both aurora and firefox and they ran alongside. now after i update aurora, i click to open firefox but instead aurora opens. i checked the default browser settings and aurora is always set as not default but that doesn't change anything. can someone help? i'm running both aurora and firefox on win 7 enterprise x64 which is running as a vm on virtualbox. thanks,

The -no-remote argument is used when opening the second instance of firefox or aurora. It is normal when using multiple copies to use multiple profiles so that each version has a unique profile available, otherwise you will inevitable get problems. Normally shortcuts will be used that start each version with an appropriate profile.
