I run Firefox with multiple profiles, as there are several people that use this computer. I start firefox with -p <profilename> -no-remote.

This all works fine except if I'm in try to open a link from for instance in an email, I click on the link and it opens the profile manager. If I select a profile that already has an open window I get an error message stating

"Firefox cannot use the profile "Rick" because it is in use. To continue, close the running instance of Firefox or choose a different profile."

Is there anyway to have it open the link in a new tab of an already running profile, rather then having to close the profile and then click the link.

Easiest may be not to click the link but to drag the link to the tab bar in that Firefox instance or use a copy and paste to the location bar.

Do you really have to have multiple Firefox instances with their own profile open at the same time, because that is the only case where you need to use the -no-remote command line switch and using that switch prevents you from opening links in Firefox by double-clicking them.
If only one person is using Firefox at the same time then you shouldn't use the -no-remote switch to prevent this.
You can also consider to give the other users their own Windows account.
