Question to get at diagnostics
I clicked on Automatically add "Troubleshooter". The words "Automatically add" changed to "Installing..." Since my Firefox is so slow, this has taken quite a while and is still "Installing" I clicked on Help > Troubleshooting Information. I clicked on a button called Copy text to clipboard I pasted the info in the text box below. One item was: Troubleshooter
1.1a false troubleshooter@mozilla.org
How do I turn troubleshooter on (I assume false is off). I am going to post this question even tho Troubleshooter is still installing.

The troubleshooter extension is only about 10 KB and should download and install in a few seconds.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end side of the Search Bar ("Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also delete the addons.sqlite file.
I cut extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, compatabiliy.ini from the Firefox profile folder and pasted them into a file in my Documents folder.
In “Tools > Add-ons > Extensions” are Troubleshooter 1.1a and 2 disabled: Global Menu Bar integration 4.1 (disabled) and Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 2.6 (disabled)
When I clicked the tools icon to the left of the Search Bar, the response was “No updates found”
When I quit Firefox and restarted it an Install Add-on window popped up saying my computer would like to modify Firefox with the following add-on: Troubleshooter 1.1a I allowed this installation even tho the “Tools > Add-ons > Extensions” display looked like I already had it.
I then tried to search thru some of the sites where I had trouble and it looks like the good response is back.
The extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, compatabiliy.ini will be recreated as needed. So I do not have to do anything to reinstate them. True?
Next, I will enable disabled Global Menu Bar integration 4.1 () and disabled Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 2.6, one at a time. Probably tomorrow, and report back.
Thanks for your help.
