Can I send a reduced size photo as in Outlook Express? --- SOLVED
I want to send a reduced size photo. Outlook gives me the option to send the full size of a smaller size. I want to do this with Thunderbird.

there are two things to note when you say 'reduced size photo'.
Size can mean visible size in height and width or it can mean the actual size of file in KB/MB.
To reduce the size in KB/MB you will need image editing software to open and resize the dpi or resize the actual height and width and resave the image under a new name, else it will overwrite the original. Then you can attach as an attachment or embed the image in the content area. eg: Photoshop or see if Windows Live Photo gallery offers this under Properties> Resize.
If you mean the visible size because you want to embed the image as pat of the content, then this can be done in Thunderbird. In a new Write message click in the content area to get focus. Insert > Image Image properties window opens. click on 'Choose file' locate image and click on 'open'
Select the 'Dimensions' tab click on 'Custom Size' select: 'Contrain' under 'Width' type eg: 200 pixels The height will be auto entered. If width is less than height try 150 pixels
click on OK to insert image.

The easiest way to send reduced images with Thunderbird is to go out of Thunderbird, select the image/images that you want to send, Right Click on the image/images, select Send to... Mail Recipient.
A dialog box will appear allowing you to opt for Picture Size 'Small '(800x600), 'Smaller'(640x480), Medium(1024x768), Large (1280x1024) or Original Size.
Once you clicked Attach at the end of the Dialog Box, a new Thunderbird message will open with the images attached, reduced to the size that you opted for.
This doesn't work in Windows 7. Mail Recipient is not one of the options when clicking on "Send To."

This is one of the drawbacks of Thunderbird. With Outlook Express it is not necessary to have image editing software.
Windyplace, I have Windows 7 and this works. Make sure the image you are trying to send is saved on your computer and not on a portable device.
I have a fully up to date Windows 7 (64bit). I also reinstalled Thunderbird. The Sent To options on my computer are the same as on my XP machine except Mail Recipient. The file in on my computer. It is a puzzle.
I just tried "Send To" on my laptop and "Mail Recipient: is there. A mystery! Thank you for you time.
