Lately when I run CCleaner and scan the registry I see a lot of ActiveX issues. What are ActiveX controls and does Firefox need and use them? I am using the current version 33.1. If I need ActiveX controls where do I find them? Thanks for any help.

I use Advanced SystemCare, which also detects "ActiveX Class issues" in the registry. It seems to be a redundant error, as they are always detected in my monthly scans.

Firefox does not use ActiveX - period.

ActiveX is the system Internet Explorer uses in place of the NPAPI system that all other browsers use to embed other applications inside themselves. Some sites explicitly specify the use of an ActiveX control (generally, for Windows Media Player) and will not render in a browser without ActiveX support.
