my password wouldn't work to sign in to firefox. so I asked for a reset e-mail, got this message instead: "Account activity notice A device began syncing with the devices connected to your Firefox Account."

What to do? Also, after reinstalling, I set yahoo.com as my home page. what comes up is e-pub reader, WHICH I DO NOT WANT

What is it you are trying to sign into?

Any password issues should be posted here with password in the heading, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors

Bookmark and use this; Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
