"Warn me when closing multiple tabs...If you want to disable the warning when closing other tabs...."
My question title points to a section of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tab-preferences-and-settings. I don't understand that section. It tells me how to disable the warning upon closing multiple tabs when closing "other" tabs. What is meant there by "other" tabs? Other than what? What exactly would be the effect of disabling the warning when closing "other" tabs?

Other than the currently active tab. That would appear when using Close Other Tabs.
There are two extra close Tabs entries in the Tab bar context menu apart from Close Tab to close the current Tab.
- Close Tabs to the Right
- Close Other Tabs
Note that there is a pref about a warning when you open multiple tabs like when you middle-click a bookmarks folder to open all bookmarks in this folder that sets the limit of how many tabs you can open safely.
- browser.tabs.maxOpenBeforeWarn
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
The Tab warn items in "Options/Preferences > General or Tabs" are hidden when the related prefs have the default value. They only show when you toggle the prefs on the about:config page. Note that this may require to close and restart Firefox.
- "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" (browser.tabs.warnOnClose)
- "Warn me when opening multiple tabs might slow down Firefox" (browser.tabs.warnOnOpen)
