What happened to my extensions?
My extensions are still installed because I can see them in the extension bar at the top, but when I go to Tools-->Add-ons-->Extensions it is empty. Normally you needed to get to the extension there to be able to enable/disable/uninstall them, but I can't because they are not there. Where did they go and how can I get them back?

Do other sections of the Add-ons page appear to be working normally?
Some users have reported theme problems on some internal pages after an updated, such as nearly unreadable white text on a light-colored background.
Could you compare the support information page, where extensions should be listed in a table form (not interactive, so just for information). You can open the page using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Scroll down to the Extensions heading, and a table should follow showing the installed extensions and current status. Is that blank or does it seem to be correct?

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end of the Search bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also delete the addons.json file.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

I did what you suggested. The extensions table is empty.

Deleting the extension files did allow me to re-install the extensions so they are back where they are supposed to be. So, thank you. But this is not the first time it happened. What causes this and how can I keep from having to jump through these hoops again and again?
