I have copied the bookmarkbackups folder from a laptop to my flashdrive in order to reinsert into FF after clean installing WIndows 10 on it and reinstalling FF on that.

I thought it would be a case of just replacing the bookmarkbackups folder in the Profiles folder but apparently it doesn't work.

Can someone please help?

Hi Kingy, last step is to restore one of those backups to replace the default bookmarks that Firefox starts out with. Please see the following article:

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

Does that work?

Note that you would have to remove all places files (places.sqlite, places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal) to make Firefox rebuild the bookmarks from the most recent compressed .jsonlz4 in the bookmarkbackups folder.
