When I want to forward an E-Mail from my inbox, I select forward. The message opens in a new window with no content.

Then I can select a contact( address) by right clicking and selecting write. A new message opens in a new window.
But there is nothing to forward. This only started happening in the last week.
Thanks

Is the box checked to include original message? If not check it.

I have no idea how you expect Thunderbird to know who your are forwarding a message to without you selecting a contact after you click forward.
