I would like to Merge Thunderbird profile from a hard drive from dead xp machine to a new win 7 machine with a newly created profile. The email account is the same, but we want to keep all email and address book. We have been using the new computer, while we were waiting for external data case, to arrive to harvest file for new win 7 machine . I want to save info on both profiles, so we don't lose new or old email and address book.

it is that merge that makes me and everyone that knows about Thunderbird cringe. There is no merge. You will have to mess about importing indivisual folders of mail and sorting out duplicated yourself.
