I just installed Thunderbird for my wife. She instantly came back with a headache! The preview pane flickers slightly at the top when she is scrolling in that pane. This does NOT occur in the other (poor) Windows 10 email app. Otherwise T seems to be far better, e.g. combining several inboxes into one list. Is there anything that can be done about this flickering? (I agree with her, it is a pite (eyes).

Well I compact head add-onhttps://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/compactheader/er , that makes all the huge header down to a line, and I just put the buttons I want on the top toolbar. Mine does not flicker.

Another possible cure is On the toolbar > Options > advanced > General and change hardware acceleration. (there is no right setting for that. It works well turned on for some and off for others.

Finally you could try a theme. On the toolbar then  Add-ons

Select Get add-ons and look to complete themes on the bottom right of the page (you might even need to scroll to get there)
