When downloading emails from POP3 account, my internet connection disconnects after 6 -10 emails have been downloaded.

Once it reconnects, I can then download about the same number of emails again before it disconnects again.

Using latest update of Thunderbird and Win 10

What anti virus are you using. Sounds to me like one is spending so much time scanning that the connection times out.

Avast anti virus in use here.

I would agree with you except my internet is a permanently on connection and I can download multi Mb files without problems.

Thunderbird is only started maybe once or twice a fortnight to download my emails for local storage and that is when the connection drops out.

Will try shutting Avast down and seeing what happens.

Well, it would appear you were correct.

Disabled Avast and no disconnection.

Now to try and work out a solution other than having to shut off the A/V.

Thankyou
