Firefox 51.0 has a known bug with Norton Security Suite on XP sp3. When Firefox opens, a Norton program, conathst.exe continually opens and runs, until there are hundreds of copies of this executible file running, until the computer crashes and automatically restarts. Other forums have said that it is fixed when you revert to Firefox 50.0

Thank you, Ed-Meister :>)

Going back to Firefox 50.0 does solve the problem of Norton 360 repeatedly launching conathst.exe until all the memory is used up and the pc restarts.

Thanks for pointing me to this safe download site for the previous versions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox
