Cannot finalize gmail account setup because pop-up window doesn't do anything, doesn't work

I'm trying to add a new gmail account to TB but the last step requires you to log into gmail using the built-in internet browser. Said browser doesn't work. Wherever I click it's non-responsive, and thus not allowing me to add my new account because I'm stuck in that final step.

Thunderbird 52.1 is supposed to be released next week. Wait for the update and then try again.
