How do I automatically redirect mail to another mail address?

How can I redirect emails received on Thunderbird to another email address. In the business where I work, the mail is installed on a secure server and I need access to the mail when I am away ... So there is a possibility to automatically send the incoming mail to another mail address.

The usual way to do this is to set up a rule on the server that copies or forwards messages to another account. If you have Outlook/Exchange then you may be able to do this via Outlook; in most other cases you need to visit the mail server's website to set up your rules.

I would advise you to check if this is permitted. If you have a legitimate reason for doing this then your IT support people should have a way to allow you formally to access your email account.

In my own case here at my workplace, it is considered acceptable for us to use our company email from off-site, and our email accounts are configured to work via the regular email POP/IMAP/SMTP protocols. Users who need access to company files are usually set up with a VPN connection that allows them to log in to our systems from outside.

It is possible that your employer does not want you to be able to access your emails from outside.
