I Linux Firefox a document uses pound for dollar sign, but Firefox for Windows shows dollar sign.
When I downloaded my Atmos Energy statement in Firefox for Linux, it showed the pound sign instead of the dollar sign. When I downloaded the same statement in Windows the dollar sign was used. When I downloaded my Reliant Energy statement in Firefox for Linux, it show the dollar sign.

HI, please try : SAFE MODE
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
- default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
- default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
- Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
- hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected
TEST''''is issue still there ?
I see in the troubleshooting information you supplied that there is support for more languages.
localeService: available: 0: en-GB; 1: en-ZA; 2: en-US;
So maybe that is causing the confusion.
You can check the order of the installed languages.
- Options/Preferences -> General -> Languages
See also this pref on the about:config page.
- intl.locale.requested
