Firefox 63.0b3 (64-bit) OS: MacOS 10.13.6

History: Setting "Always use private browsing mode" is enabled.

Tracking Protection: Use Tracking Protection to block known trackers: Always

Problem: there's no way to add a site to list of exceptions in "Tracking protection" section.

Enabling setting "Disable blocking temporarily" just disables tracking protection for one session (browser restart) but does not add the site to the list of exceptions.

This is okay that Firefox doesn’t keep any information about your browsing session, but i'd like to change browser's setting and add url to the list of exceptions. But it's not possible.

As I only use Tracking Protection in private windows, I never bothered to check that option.

Checked it now, and found out that there's this bug report :

Hello m0n9oose,

Since Private Browsing mode doesn’t keep any information about your browsing session, when you disable Tracking Protection for a site, it only lasts for this session. When you start a new Private Browsing session, Tracking Protection will be turned on again for all sites. Maybe a bit unconvenient, but you will have to disable Tracking Protection for that site the next time you visit it (or visit the site in 'normal' browsing mode).

It seems to be a problem if you have a settings configuration which makes your browser broken - there's a functionality but you can't use it and there's no signs, alerts or something like that.

^ That bug is about not being able to add an exception manually via Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security. The bug is also about WebExtensions that are actively blocking content and bypass the Firefox TP feature (i.e. that take prevalence).

The OP has a problem with disabling TP permanently on a specific website while being in Private Browsing mode. In private browsing mode you can only create an exception for the current session via the Control Center 'i' icon drop-down list as you can see in the drop-down list like posted above. In Private Browsing mode you can use a permanent exception created in a regular mode window, but you can't store a permanent exception via the Control Center 'i' icon that is listed in the exception window in Options/Preferences. That is how PB mode works and you either have to access to website in a normal mode window to create a permanent exception or disable TP every timeyou visit the website via the Control Center 'i' icon.

I do understand how private browsing mode works and have no problems with this. The problem is: i have an abiltiy to enable checkbox "always use private browsing mode" and then i can not use some features like "save to pocket" or add a permanent exception for tracking protection

1) but these functions are not related to private browsing 2) there's no warning in preferences, these elements are not disabled, they just doesn't work

This is not okay when I have a button "save to pocket" but cannot use it and i don't understand why.

This is not okay when i have a button "exceptions" and have no button to add site.

There's two options to fix bugs like this:

1) allow user to use these functions and edit exceptions list and use integrated extensions like Pocket. It's possible since it's not a third-party plugins, it's browser's core 2) leave things as is but hide some UI elements like "Pocket" button since they're broken by valid setup

Please do not try to explain broken UI by some under-the-hood concepts. If i have a button - it should work as i expect.

In PB mode features that use an internet website do not work. This includes saving a screenshot to the Firefox screenshot website (you can only use download to save the screenshot locally) and apparently also affects saving to Pocket. Also extensions that use local storage won't work properly since no data can be saved in PB mode.
